His challenge, to lose 100 pounds in 365 days. Seeing him not only decide to do this, but to publish it on the internet inspired me to do the same. I was never really skinny but I use to be just a little chubby, but then when I got out of high school and started working full time, sitting at my desk all day I began to put on alot of weight. As of now I am at 243 pounds. I am 5 foot 9 which makes my BMI about 35.9 kg/m^2 according to Cardio Calc on my iPhone. A BMI of 35.9 kg/m^2 is well inside the obese weight category. My goal is to lose 100 pounds which would make my BMI 20.5 kg/m^2, which is in the ideal weight Category. I plan on taking a slightly different approach than Josh. I plan on eating a littler bit healthier than I do now and maintaining a daily calorie intake of 2,049 calories and exercising at lest 30 minutes each week day and at-least 2 hours over the weekend. Like Josh, my goal for this first week is 9lbs. I plan to do several different exercising activites including playing basketball, skateboarding, playing tennis, running, and hiking. For this first week I am justing to stick with jogging but next week I will mix it up. Not only will I be taking on this challenge over the next 265 days but I will aslo be reviewing different things that help me on my journey. From tennis rackets, hiking shoes, iPhone apps to track my progress, to healty recipes that taste great. If you can relate to this challenge I encourge to accept it and join in on the revolution. Also, if anyone has any great ideas for fun activites I could do, or any great recipes don't hesitate to send them in. Um, but I am relieved that I know that now. It only took a matter of seconds to do the upgrade and a little bit longer to upgrade all my plugins. Yeah, for anyone who is upgrading the hard way just install PECL-SSH2. Which if you are in FreeBSD 7.0 you would do the following:

pubBSD# cd /usr/ports/security/pecl-ssh2
pubBSD# sudo make install clean

Now if you don't have sudo installed the second line may be giving you issues if you are not root. Which, if this is you, I would strongly recommend you look into installing
sudo
. Well this is it for now, I shall start filling in the information about my projects and start a tutorial section too. I did manage to get CS4 Master Collection, Maya 2009, and Combustion installed though, which is nice =). I have also got a new theme as you may have noticed. I recently bought an apple iPhone 3G from my local Best Buy and starting things off I thought I would let everyone know how my experience went.

I choose the 8GB model with the lowest individual plan and the lowest amount of text messages. After the credit check I was approved with a $150.00 dollar deposit. For me this was a good thing as I was expecting to have to pay a deposit around $300 or $400 as I for sure don't have the best credit in the world. First impression, this is one slick phone. I do wish they supported syncing with iTunes on Windows XP x64 as that is what I run, but they don't(Vista x64 is supported however). I was able to update my OSx86 AMD install to 10.5.4 and get it syncing with that, which I love. I have one word to describe the App Store, AMAZING! Brilliant design, brilliantly implemented.

I ran into one major issue with my iPhone the second day I had it. I noticed that it wasn't ringing when I was getting calls. At first I figured I had put it in silent mode but it turned out the internal speaker was defective. From searching google it seems there is a good number of iPhone 3Gs that think the headphones are connected when they are not, for me that was not the issue (unfortunately because that is easy to fix). My speaker had "blown out" according to the apple tech-support rep I spoke with. Now, this is why I was extremely glad I had purchased my iPhone from Best Buy. Instead of sending it to apple like the tech-support rep. said I would have to do. I dropped back into the store where I had purchased the iPhone less than 72 hours ago and they switched it out no problem. I have had worse situations with BBY but this was just awesome customer service. Here is how the conversation went:

Me: " Hey, remember me I bought this iPhone on Monday."
MobileRep: "Yes, how are you liking your phone."
Me: "its broken."
MobileRep: "I'm sorry to hear that, here is a new phone"

Yup, it was really that easy, less than 20 mins. I was on my way home with a brand new iPhone. They didn't even try to replicate the issue with the iPhone I was returning(which is store policy). They just took it and gave me a brand spanking new one. If I was an evil person I could have returned a broken iPhone 3G that I got on ebay for 10 bucks and they wouldn't even have noticed. But Im not evil like that and I would never condone any such action, and I am very glad that I didn't have to send my phone off to apple the second day I had it. Well this is it for now, I'll most more after a while.

Wordpress...Why?

I have had a personal blog/portfolio site in the works and it is coming along very nicely. Now, I am not going to tell you much about my self in this post, you can see the "about me" page for that.

This blog is going to contain alot of good information and tutorials and all kinds of things relating to computers/networking/programming and math/physics because those are my hobbies. And from time to time you may be able to find some other good stuff on here too.
