Ok, so Josh from Hi-Voltage design and the current Arizona PBL President has issued a challenge to him self and anyone else who feels it is time to turn things around. His challenge, to lose 100 pounds in 365 days. Seeing him not only decide to do this, but to publish it on the internet inspired me to do the same. I was never really skinny but I use to be just a little chubby, but then when I got out of high school and started working full time, sitting at my desk all day I began to put on alot of weight. As of now I am at 243 pounds. I am 5 foot 9 which makes my BMI about 35.9 kg/m^2 according to Cardio Calc on my iPhone. A BMI of 35.9 kg/m^2 is well inside the obese weight category. My goal is to lose 100 pounds which would make my BMI 20.5 kg/m^2, which is in the ideal weight Category. I plan on taking a slightly different approach than Josh. I plan on eating a littler bit healthier than I do now and maintaining a daily calorie intake of 2,049 calories and exercising at lest 30 minutes each week day and at-least 2 hours over the weekend. Like Josh, my goal for this first week is 9lbs. I plan to do several different exercising activites including playing basketball, skateboarding, playing tennis, running, and hiking. For this first week I am justing to stick with jogging but next week I will mix it up. Not only will I be taking on this challenge over the next 265 days but I will aslo be reviewing different things that help me on my journey. From tennis rackets, hiking shoes, iPhone apps to track my progress, to healty recipes that taste great. If you can relate to this challenge I encourge to accept it and join in on the revolution. Also, if anyone has any great ideas for fun activites I could do, or any great recipes don't hesitate to send them in. You can reach me at casey.hillman@nurbd.net
